I have lived in Canada and sweden (current location) and I can say that the swedes have no much of an idea what maple syrup is, now you can buy the typical maple-flavour syrup or, just some store, sell the real one from canada but is not a well-known product here.

No surprise since there aren't that many maples in Sweden. Most forest
is evergreens. There are some hardwood trees, especially in the south,
but mostly birch.
